Mayor opens MedicX Pharmacy in Ashton under Lyne

The new Ashton under Lyne MedicX Pharmacy, located in Ashton Primary Care Centre, was officially opened Wednesday 15 December by The Worshipful the Civic Mayor of Tameside, Councillor Jean Brazil. The Mayor performed the ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the occasion and then had a blood pressure test using the new Health Diagnostics Options system in the new pharmacy.

The Ashton under Lyne MedicX Pharmacy has been designed with the community in mind, opening seven days a week with extended opening hours; until 9pm Monday to Friday and until 10pm at weekends. In addition to traditional pharmacy facilities such as dispensing, the pharmacy also offers a range of additional services, designed to complement those already provided at the adjoining primary care centre. The pharmacy team is able to provide blood pressure measurements, diabetes and cholesterol tests, as well as offering medication advice. These services have already proved popular since the pharmacy opened its doors at the beginning of December.
