MedicX Pharmacy Ossett Launches Innovative Health Assessment

MedicX Pharmacy, Ossett Health Village, launches a new health assessment this September, to improve the health of the local community.

MedicX Pharmacy's vision is to improve patients' health through the understanding of good health, rather than being reactive to health problems further down the line. With so many conflicting messages about what having a healthy lifestyle means, this is a great opportunity to get some valuable professional advice. If that is not reason enough, it has been suggested that by taking some simple steps to a healthier lifestyle you can add up to 14 years to your life.

The ethos of the assessment day is 'one step at a time' whereby health risks are identified and ranked in order of importance so that lifestyle changes can be made gradually, rather than expecting instant change in every area of your life which is often an unrealistic target. During a private consultation with the pharmacist, the assessment takes a thorough look at the patient's way of life including diet, sleep, exercise, smoking, work and leisure and identifies any health risks they may be taking. They are then ranked in order so that the area most at risk can be targeted first. All participants are provided with a written record of their assessment so they can more easily follow the advice and discuss it with a MedicX Pharmacy pharmacist in confidence.

The September launch is about highlighting the service to local people and to invite everyone in the community to come and find out more about how they can improve their health, now and in the future. The assessment takes just 15 minutes and could help towards a longer and healthier life.
